“We are combat-ready, we can deter, and if deterrence fails, we are ready to fight for the Lithuanians.” Watch NATO Allies train together at exercise Iron Wolf in Lithuania.
Synopsis
One of Lithuania’s largest military exercises, Iron Wolf, saw nine NATO Allies – Belgium, Czechia, Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States – gather for intense training at Pabrade Training Ground, Lithuania. The exercise, which involved more than 3,500 troops, and armoured vehicles including German Leopard 2 tanks, tested the ability of the Lithuanian Army’s Iron Wolf Brigade to carry out defensive operations and counter-attacks. NATO’s German-led multinational battlegroup participated, as did a US Army battalion assigned to Lithuania on a rotational basis. The exercise was also an opportunity for troops from various Allies to hone their skills and ability to work together, as well as testing their readiness to defend NATO’s eastern flank, if required.
