Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine has changed the face of European security. It underlines the need for combat-ready forces to be able to deploy at speed. Check out the Danish deployment in Latvia.
Synopsis
As part of the measures to reinforce the eastern part of the Alliance, the Danish Armed Forces have deployed a battalion along with other units in Latvia. With approximately 750 soldiers, the Danish soldiers are helping to reinforce the Baltic region after Russia’s unjustified and brutal invasion of Ukraine. These actions demonstrate Allies’ solidarity, determination and ability to defend Alliance territory and populations. The battalion is formed by the Danish Army’s 1st Brigade and is mainly composed of the 1st Hussars of the Guard Hussars Regiment, along with other units. The Danish forces have been deployed alongside troops from other NATO member countries at Ādaži Military Base since April 2022 and are integrated into the Latvian Mechanised Infantry Brigade.
