NATO nations and partners have delivered 100,000 protective medical suits to Romania in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Synopsis
A military aircraft carrying 45 tons of medical supplies landed in Bucharest this week, transporting 100,000 protective medical suits from Seoul. The flight marked the third shipment of medical supplies from the Republic of Korea to Romania using a C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft attached to the NATO-supported Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC).
Under the SAC programme, ten NATO Allies and two NATO partner countries jointly own and operate three C-17 heavy cargo aircraft, sharing flying hours and costs. The C-17 aircraft are based out of Pápa Air Base in Hungary. More information on the Strategic Airlift Capability can be found here.
This footage was filmed by the Ministry of Defence in Romania. It includes shots of the medical supplies being unloaded from the cargo aircraft and soundbites from the US Ambassador to Romania and one of the C-17 Globemaster III pilots.

‘The multinational crew of the Heavy Airlift Wing. They left Hungary Saturday morning and they just returned. They have flown for four days led by a colonel from Sweden. They had a couple of American flight members, a Romanian pilot, an American pilot and crew members from other countries. It’s a true symbol of the cooperation that NATO offers all its member countries and how we rise up to the occasion to help each other when there’s a crisis in the world.’
