Multinational exercise Engineer Thunder 19 took place in Lithuania the week of 9 September, testing the capabilities of engineers in a variety of challenging scenarios.

Synopsis

Exercise Engineer Thunder 19 is a Lithuanian exercise involving NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup Lithuania, with engineering troops from NATO Allies Netherlands, Germany, the United States and Lithuania conducting engineer counter-mobility, mobility, survivability and general engineering tasks during military operations, while supporting infantry units. Combat engineers are used to fortify defensive positions, demolish enemy fortifications, or help ground troops circumnavigate obstacles like dense forests or rivers.

Footage includes engineers from the Royal Netherlands Army 411 Engineer Company; the German Army 701 Armoured Engineer Battalion; Lithuanian Land Force Juozas Vitkus Engineer Battalion; and the U.S Army 103rd Engineer Battalion. Interview: Lithuanian combat engineer.
